Epicor 10 (E10) Handheld Customization may be used to change the screen layout of the handheld application. Many of these screens call other screens. In order to allow the customizations to work on all screens, the customization must be named exactly the same. Accessing the customization function for the Handheld may be accessed in one of two ways. In the first method, the E10 client will be used. Go into the Developer Mode by either clicking the icon show below in the classic view or the modern view.
After developer mode has been enabled, go to the menu Production Management à Data Collection à Handheld à XXX where XXX is the screen you wish to modify. In the example shown here, the My Material Queue will be customized. The second way to access the Handheld developer mode requires modifying the shortcut icon on the desktop to access the developer mode. Make a copy of the shortcut and rename the shortcut appropriately. Right click on the icon and go to the properties option.
Add a “c” to the end of the target string similar to the following “C:\Epicor\ERP10.0Client\Client\Epicor.exe /config=ERPpilot100700.sysconfig –hhc”.
Save the shortcut. The short cut will open the developer mode. Navigate to the screen requiring customization, then right click and the customization option will be displayed as shown.
In this example the Epicor 10 (E10) Handheld Customization will be performed on the My Material Queue. The description field will be added to the screen directly under the Part. Open the Toolbox. Click on the EpiTextbox icon and then draw the textbox on the form at the location desired. The fields will need to be move slightly in order to accommodate the new field. Simply click on the elements and move them and/or resize them as required.
Modify the properties for the EpiTextBox, click on the field on the screen. Notice that the control that was added is in the properties window. Navigate to the EpiBinding line. Select the proper field, in this case MtlQueue.PartNumPartDescription as shown below. Navigate to the text line and delete the epiTextBoxC1 from the field. The control may be renamed to be more representative of the data in the control by changing the Name field.
Click the File | Save Customization as shown below. A backup copy of the customization may be made by using the option is to Save Customization As and give the customization another name. Customizations may also be exported to a file as a backup as well. The saved file may be imported into Epicor. The Export Customization/Import Customization option will be used to move customizations from one system such as Test to Live.
A screen similar to the following will be displayed. Enter the Name which is a short code for the customization that contains no spaces and enter the description.
Continue processing the transaction on the My Material Queue, using the F2 or Process button and another screen will be displayed such as Issue Material Screen. Right Click on the screen and select Customization. Make the desired modification to the screen if required. Save the customization and name this customization the same as the name on the My Material Queue screen. Depending on the type of transaction in the Material Queue, a different screen will be displayed when the F2 is pressed. The Process Material Queue screen will be displayed for some type of transaction. Right Click on the screen and select Customization. Make the desired modification to the screen and save the customization with the same name as the last two screens. An option exists on the Process Material Queue screen to Lookup part information. That screen may be customized by right clicking the screen and clicking the customization option. Save with the same name as the other screens that have been changed. The Lookup part information screen may only be accessed from the handheld and to implement the change, a sub process is required. The information required for the sub process is available when the customization screen appears. Record this data.
Go to the Menu Maintenance, Process section and add a Menu Item as shown below.
The customization will be invoked when the Part Lookup is performed.
